Cherry and Pineapple Dump Cake  

Ingredients:

  • 1 (20-oz.) can pineapple tidbits in its own juice
  • 1 (21-oz.) can cherry pie filling
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 pkg. yellow cake mix
  • 1/2 stick unsalted butter


Directions:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. 
  • Lightly grease an 8” x 8” Pyrex glass baking dish with avocado oil.
  • Drain and save the juice from the can of pineapple tidbits. 
  • Place pineapple pieces and cherry pie filling in a bowl; mix together. 
  • Pour mixture into the prepared baking dish.
  • Sprinkle the surface of the filling evenly with the yellow cake mix. 
  • In the saucepan over low heat, melt butter then mix with vanilla extract and reserved pineapple juice. 
  • Pour the mixture evenly over the cake mix. Use a spoon to spread the juice mixture across the mix.
  • Transfer the baking dish to the middle rack of the oven.
  • Bake until the top is golden brown in spots and the filling is bubbling, about 45 minutes. 
  • Allow to cool and serve.
