Macaroni and Cheese with Ground Turkey

Hamburger Helper Copycat Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 pound lean, ground turkey breast.
  • 2 cups of shell macaroni, uncooked.
  • 1 tbsp corn starch.
  • 1 tsp onion powder.
  • 1 tsp garlic powder.
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika.
  • 1 tsp salt.
  • 1/2 tsp freshly ground pepper.
  • 2 tablespoons butter.
  • 3 1/3 cups chicken broth.
  • 1 1/2 cups of your favorite shredded cheese.
  • 1/2 tsp dried parsley (optional).

DIRECTIONS

  • Mix corn starch, salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder together in a small bowl.
  • Brown the turkey noodles according to the package directions.
  • Add sprinkle the spice mixture over the turkey and stir until the turkey is well coated.
  • Add the chicken broth and butter then bring to a boil.
  • Add the shells and simmer for 12-15 minutes or until the shells are al dente.
  • Sprinkle the cheese over the cooked pasta and stir until melted into the sauce.
  • Remove from theat, and let stand for a few minutes while the sauce thickens a bit.
  • Garnish with freshly chopped parsley, if desired, then serve.
